Ms. Virra Mae Powell, (Vi Mae) 59, of 803 Pine Ave, Hopewell departed this life Monday, August 13, 2012 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell.

Virra was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Deboles and Carrie Mae Brown.

She had been a life long resident of Hopewell and her occupation as a cook at Fort Lee. Her glowing smile and personality was a joy to be around.

Surviving her memories; daughter, Malinda Jackson, Hopewell; adopted son, Herbert Brown, Jr.; three adopted daughters, Erica, Ebony and Essence Pride of Hopewell; one granddaughter, Ca'Neira; four sisters, Pearly Pearson (Cliffton), Teresa Tyler (Louis), Dora Draper (Freddie) and Gail Young; one brother, Herbert Brown (Gracie) all of Hopewell; sister-in-law, Bishop Mary Bonner; devoted campion, Walter Williams; two step daughter, Brenda Powell and Terry Osborne, stepson, Andrew L. Powell, Jr.; host of nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives including devoted cousins and friends, Wynette Winfield, Margie Sprately; Bonnie Dixon Frye, JoyceAnn Claiborne, Anita Blanding, Emma Brown, Phyllis Parker, Annie Mae Berry and Phyllis Allen.

A funeral service will be 2pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell.

Elder Clifton Pearson will eulogize. The family will assemble 1:30pm at the chapel prior to service.
