Marlon D. Bowers age 38 of 13601 James River Drive, Hopewell departed this life at his residence on Wednesday, August 11, 2012. Marlon was the son of Susie Daily and Junius Bowers. Marlon was a graduate of Petersburg Public Schools and studied one year as an art student at the Philadelphia Art Institute. Marlon was a renowned artist who’s paintings can been seen in the Tri-Cities and beyond. He was the proprietor for an art store that he opened on the corner (next to Subway) on Washington Street and Sycamore Street. The corridor, next to the chapel in William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, proudly displays artwork by Marlon of the Bland family. To them he was like family. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted companion; Felicia D. Pierce: his parents: sons : Honesto Sandovae (LJ) and Marlon Bowers, Jr.: daughter: Marlilah Bowers: brother; Derrell Bowers: sister; LaSandra Bowers. Other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Rock Church on 460 highway. Rev. Sonya Davis, pastor. Rev. Sherman Spratley pastor at Victory and Praise Worship Ministry, Hopewell will eulogize. The family will assemble 12:30 at 300 Amherse Street, Petersburg. Funeral arrangements provided by William N.
